Kyushu 2015 Autumn Self Drive Trip - Day 3

Day 3 : Nagasaki
View from Hotel Room

Today we be spending whole day in Nagasaki , reason is to have 1 more night for night view just in case the weather is not good. We started early to the Peace Park and then to Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum. We bought breakfast from ほっともっと( Hottomotto ) , they have a lot of outlets in Kyushu ( read from one of the blog that it had more then Mcd in Kyushu ? ) Note that some outlets had Dine-In area, some are just for takeaway , the one we went near the Peace Park only offers takeaway , thus we packed and had our breakfast at the park itself.
The Park and the Atomic Bomb Museum are about 10 -15 min walk away , in between there is a smaller park where there Hypocenter" is marked. " Hypocenter: the point directly beneath an atomic explosion, the spot that is exposed to the center of the bomb's destructive force, often called Ground zero." The black pillar is there the center is whereby the other pillar is the leftover of a Cathedral.

Memorial Hall
Will not go into much detailed about the Museum as it really feel very "Sad" inside and unless you are really into these history stuffs , it can gets really boring. * The water fountain is created to "provide" water for those who had pass away during the atomic bombing as most were burnt. Personally I felt very uneasy at the Memorial Hall that even now when i repost the picture and type about it i am getting goose bumps.
Saikai Bridge
New Saikai Bridge
魚魚市場
The plan was to go to see the Saikai bridge and eat lunch at the 魚魚市場 but cos we spent too much time at the Museum so we decided to skip at it was quite a long drive. Here i still post some informations and pictures from the net for those who might be interested. The Saikai bridge ( 西海橋)is famous for the whirlpool depends on the tides , this is the link for the whirlpool current timing. There is also a park nearby. The Saikai bridge actually connects Nagasaki City to Sasebo.

"Windows" for you to view the Whirlpools
Another place for those with kids to visit will be Huis Ten Bosch. It's like a Theme Park with lots to visit and play and its quite famous for its Winter Illuminations. We choose not to visit cos 1) no time 2) quite expensive 3) We no longer kids 4) We seen some winter illuminations on our last trip to Japan and 5) we are not into "One Piece" , they have the Ship cruise there.
So by skipping Saikai Bridge , we headed to Nagasaki Bio park instead. From Nagasaki city to Biopark , you will pass by a great shopping area in Togitsu , which i will cover later.
Biopark is like a Zoo but to me it so much more fun then Zoo in Singapore because it give you more interaction with the animals. Also some animals are not exactly "Caged" it actually can move about in the area with no fence at all.

Had quite a fun time at the Bio park , though you don't get to see those animals like Lions , tigers , but its quite a fun place for kids to spend at least half a day feeding the animals.

Ended the day with Shopping at Togitsu ( 時津町), There are a lot of standalone stores here , one thing in Japan is that most of the mega stores are all slightly outskirt of city area , in city area you will find big department stores but outskirt you will find mega shops. Like in Togitsu area , you will fins Aeon , Maxvalue , Mega Daiso , Mega Gu , Sport Depo and more. You could easily spend a day by stores hopping. and usually the carparks are big and free. ( The area in red is Togitsu area , it's about 20 min drive away from the City area , in between there is a Mega Don Quijote.
