NZ South Island Motorhome Road trip 2018 Day 4

Woke up morning and went to explore a bit and took some selfie with my selfie stick aka tripod.
Failed drone footage
Went to try my cheap drone ..... FAILED ! Today we will be making our way from Lake Pukaki to Mt Cook area. Today we will try to explore Lake Pukaki and then top up some food and also we need to find a dump station as there is none at Mt Cook area. Also we had a Ultimate Alpine Experience Combo booked for tomorrow morning which will consist of a helicopter and ski plane ride. So we will not be staying at the Mt Cook area , instead we will be staying overnight at Glentanner Holiday Park , which is at the end Lake Pukaki and the last holiday park + power site before Mt Cook.
We first make our way to the Mt Cook Alpine Salmon shop , was thinking of just grabbing a quick breakfast but only to realise that they only sell raw salmon so we decided to detour to the High Country Salmon. The view here for Lake Pukaki is really nice but it's very cloudy so it could have been better.

Teriyaki salmon fins
Salmon Pie
Since we are already here so might as well try something Salmon :) After breakfast, we made our way back to Twizel , which is the nearest town to Mt Cook area , where you can top up food at the supermarket ( there is 2 Foursquare here ) , nearest dumping station cos apparently the one at Mt Cook is not open in winter and also there are some restaurants/shops here.
Clean toilets here
Shop houses
Empty the Grey water ( from sink/shower)
Some random stop along the way to the Peter's Lookout.

After a quick photo stop at Peter's Lookout, we made our way to the first Glentanner Holiday Park , the first one we be staying for this trip. Holiday Park are actually PAID campsite, they cater to motorhome , cars and have options to stay in cabin , pitch your own tent, etc. we choose to stay here because we need a power site to charge the motorhome and also it about 30 min to where we need to report for the scenic flight tomorrow.
Power site means parking space with power outlet to charge the motorhome battery, this also means we will be able to use all the 24V power sockets in the motorhome to charge everything at one shot, Eg laptop , big power bank , etc. Basically the motorhome got 2 different battery , one is to run the motorhome engine , the other is to run all the electrical stuffs in it , Eg. lights , heater , fridge , etc. Recommended was to visited a power site ever 2-3 days but in the later part of the trip we stretched it to about 4 days cos while driving , you are actually able to charge the other battery.
This had to be the holiday park with the best kitchen facilities that we had stay in NZ. As this was the first one we stayed, we thought that all Holiday park was like this but NO , every holiday park is different. Eg, this one does not charge for hot shower , it had a super big kitchen and dinning area , also there so many sink , provide dishwashing liquid and best of all are the utensils and cutlery. Other Holiday park we stayed are either small kitchen , no dishwashing liquid or even does not havre any bowls/plates , which means we had to carry a lot of things from our motorhome to the kitchen to cook a decent meal.
So if you are doing self drive on normal car ( not camper/motorhome ) you might need to get some simple pot and pan + all your plate/bowl and even fork/spoon. Best to have a cardboard or what I saw from one couple, they had all their cooking stuffs in a plastic container, so when they need to cook meals, they just bring that whole box to the kitchen, not like us, we had to pack different plastic bag when we go to kitchen, Eg, food one bag, plate/bowls/etc one bag, dishwashing liquid/scrub one bag.
Beef steak _ egg _ mushroom sauce
Pork chop with cheese
Grilled Chicken Wings
Salad with Prosciutto
Dinner is served , yes this is a BIG dinner since we do not need to cook in the motorhome , so might as well make full use of the kitchen.
Fyi, There are a lot of rabbits here, so don't be scare if you are holding torchlight when you need to go to the toilet at night, cos you will see a lot of "reflective" glowing eyes.
When at Power site , will charge all our device
First $50 winning ticket
